By the voluntary sector for the voluntary sector

“By the voluntary sector … for the voluntary sector”. This is the slogan which has always distinguished Ciessevi’s activities. Furnishing actions, services and instruments for the voluntary sector has to do with the multiform cultural and anthropological affiliations which fuel the motivation to act on behalf of others for free. This is why Ciessevi has always supported the decision of the law concerning the voluntary sector to entrust the policy and governance of Service Centres to the voluntary sector, to the very organisations which together must choose and carry out actions to sustain, enhance and develop the voluntary sector.
It would be dangerous to entrust others outside the voluntary sector with these choices, allowing other actors, in the world of the institutions or of business, to govern services for the voluntary sector. Overcoming self-referentiality and establishing the right relation with interlocutors from these other worlds must not however mean renouncing one’s independence in terms of direction, choices and where and how to develop.
Ciessevi, in fact, is a third-level association comprised of 33 members. Members must be familiar with needs, interpret them, envision the most suitable responses, and turn those insights into actions, services, measures and instruments. They must ensure that Ciessevi is accessible and comprehensible to everyone.
