| Tens years of Ciessevi: press conference |
|
The initiatives planned to celebrate our first ten years of activity have been presented to the media Think of how children grow during the first ten years of life: they learn everything! First about themselves, and then about other people and how to relate to them. They learn to walk, to feed themselves, to follow what they see with their eyes, to talk, to sing, to shout, to think, to play … At Ciessevi (Service Centre for the Voluntary Sector in the Province of Milan) this and much more besides has happened, if one takes into account the fact that the Centre is the expression of many subjects who in turn often represent a multitude of organisations … Ciessevi has been active in the province of Milan for ten years. It offers free services to over 1,000 organisations. It sustains, promotes and qualifies the activity of 100,000 volunteers. The tenth anniversary celebrations will be a chance to reflect upon how, in ten years, the voluntary sector in Milan and province has changed, grown and evolved (the past), what the characteristics and role of the voluntary sector are today (the present), and what directions to take tomorrow (the future). The first date for reflecting on the past and the evolution of the voluntary sector is the Project Planning Assembly scheduled for Saturday 14 June 2008 at the Centro Girola of the Fondazione Don Gnocchi, at Via C. Girola 30, Milan: a round table discussion entitled “Ciessevi’s ten years in action: a promise kept?” will open the day of work between the associations of Milan and province, gathered to draw up project proposals for Ciessevi over the next two years (2009-10). During the press conference the results of the local area workshops were unveiled, providing a snapshot of the voluntary sector’s needs, activities and expectations and the Abstract of Research into the Voluntary Sector in Milan and province which will be published in September. In addition, initiatives connected to, in particular, promotion of the voluntary sector were presented: the multimedia competition “Immagini volontarie” (“Voluntary Images”), in which all secondary school students in Milan and Province will be able to take part; the interactive exhibition “Incontri In-volontari” (“In-voluntary Encounters”) scheduled to take place in Milan in autumn for students and young people, and the Festivals for the Voluntary Sector, promoted throughout the province of Milan independently or in partnership with Ciessevi. |
